Meet The Team
Series Creator | Animation Supervisor
Karley Spray
Born and raised as a Houstonian deriving from Korean/Puerto Rican roots, Karley entered adulthood as an animation college drop-out, quickly making her mark as a professional dog trainer in various specialized fields—behavior & obedience, working K9s, competition, and more—before ultimately focusing her career on training service dogs for individuals with disabilities.

After witnessing the rise and fall of her once-successful business, Karley was left feeling a deep lack of purpose... and life became dangerously bleak. However, in a twist of fate, she decided one night to pick up the pencil after seven years of abandoning her love for the arts. Through the murky waters of depression, she created the first sketches of the OUTLIER concepts & characters people have come to recognize today.
Reinvigorated by the creative process and the fresh air that it brought, Karley decided to pursue the idea; holding steadfast to the belief that the series would flourish so long as she resisted the temptation to quit.
The story of OUTLIER's beginning was really that simple. And so, here we are.
Company Mascot
EmptyNest Outstanding Citizen CD CGCU TKA "Kane"
Starting the first years of his life as Karley's show dog and active sports competitor, Kane soon took on a more crucial role as a medical guardian when his owner's mental health condition significantly worsened. Kane became a beacon in the working K9 industry as a service dog, demonstrating that well-trained dogs can be invaluable for mental illnesses when proper task-work is professionally taught alongside a stable-temperament animal.
Challenging the public's confusion between legitimate task-trained service dogs and fraudulent emotional support animals, Kane became renowned in the industry as a leading example of how service dogs should perform in the field; saving Karley's life on multiple occasions. Before being immortalized as the Studio Kane mascot, Kane earned numerous accolades throughout his career and was featured as the topic of many interviews and seminars—making a name for himself way before the studio was even a thought in Karley's mind.
